How Gigoo handles Get started: your data from Excel

Get started: bring in your customers, products, stock and open balances from Excel. Every file is checked before anything is posted.

Ten items, one list

  • Settings › Get started lists what to bring in: customers, vendors, products, opening stock, open invoices and bills, bank and cash balances, and the starting numbers of your documents.
  • Each card has its own Excel template. Download it, fill in one row per record, and upload it on the same card.
  • The work can be shared: Accounts brings in customers, vendors and balances; Operations brings in products and stock.

Every file checked first

  • A clean file is imported at once: for example, 3 rows imported: 3 new. Upload it again and nothing is doubled.
  • A file with a problem brings in nothing. A table shows each row, column and problem, such as a TRN that is too short. Fix them and upload the file again.
  • Opening stock, open invoices and bills are checked and kept. They go into the books only when you post the opening balances.

Posting the opening balances

  • Everything is dated the day before your go-live date.
  • Open invoices and bills keep their old numbers and due dates, so payments, ageing and reminders follow them.
  • Account 300090 Opening Balances then shows your opening equity, to compare with your old books.
  • The Owner can undo the opening balances to correct a mistake, and post them again.

In a worked example

Customers3 rows imported: 3 new.
Opening stock5 rows checked and kept
Opening equity60,010.00 AED
