How Gigoo handles the VAT 201 return

Your VAT return in the FTA's VAT 201 boxes, ready for your accountant to enter in EmaraTax. Mark the return as filed, and the period locks.

What Gigoo does for you

  • When a VAT period ends, Gigoo prepares its draft return and gives Accounts a to-do with the due date.
  • Every invoice, bill and credit note of the period goes into its box, in the order of the EmaraTax form: 1a – 1g per emirate, then boxes 2 to 14.
  • The return shows the result: Nothing to pay, VAT payable or VAT refundable, with box 14 and the date it is due.
  • A return cannot be filed while a draft invoice or bill with VAT in the period still waits, so nothing is left out.

What you do

  • Accounts or the Owner opens the return, checks the boxes and prints it.
  • Your accountant enters the figures in EmaraTax. Gigoo does not file with the FTA for you.
  • Back in Gigoo, Mark as Filed with the FTA reference. Gigoo posts the VAT closing entry and locks VAT up to the end of the period.
  • If VAT is payable, Record VAT payment pays the FTA from your bank or cash.

A bill that comes in late

A filed return keeps the figures it was filed with. A document dated in a filed period keeps its own date on the print, and its VAT goes into the current return. Only Accounts or the Owner can post it.
