How Gigoo handles discounts for customers and suppliers
Give a customer money off a line or a whole quotation, order or invoice, with approval above the limit you set. Record a supplier's discount after the bill, and it lowers the cost of the goods you still hold.
Discounts for customers
- Type a percentage on a line, or click Discount and give an amount or a percentage for the whole document.
- Gigoo always puts a whole-document discount onto the lines, shared by their values. Each line shows its own Disc. %.
- VAT is worked out on the amount after discount.
- When goods come back, the credit note takes each line's own price and discount, so the customer gets back what they paid.
Approval above your limit
- The Owner can set a discount limit. Above it, a banner shows on the document and only a user with the permission Approve discounts can confirm the order or post the invoice.
- A quotation or pro-forma can still be sent while it waits.
- The approval and its reason are logged on the document.
Discounts from suppliers
- Accounts records the supplier's credit as a Debit Note against the bill.
- A discount on goods you stock lowers the cost of the stock still on hand, so the stock value and your inventory account stay equal.
- For goods already sold, the share goes to the account you choose for supplier discounts.
