A table for four: order, kitchen, a removal with the manager's PIN, split bill, tip

Tariq takes table 4's order and sends it to the kitchen; the Fattoush comes off with Youssef's PIN; one guest pays their share by card and the rest of the table pays in cash with a tip. Arjun takes both payments.

The case

Bayt Al Tannour Restaurant, Counter till, table 4 (Main Hall, 4 guests), 27/10/2026. Waiter Tariq Saeed; cashier Arjun Menon; Restaurant Manager Youssef Amin. Prices on the till include VAT at 5%. This example is its own run on a fresh copy of the demo restaurant, so its numbers are its own.

1. Take the order

Tariq opens table 4 and adds a Mixed Grill for Two, a Hummus, a Fattoush and two Fresh Lemon Mint. The orange button sends them: the tickets print at the stations.

2. The Fattoush comes off

The guests no longer want the Fattoush, which the kitchen already has. Tariq presses −; Youssef types his PIN; the kitchen gets a cancelled ticket.

3. One guest pays by card

Arjun splits the bill: the Hummus and one Fresh Lemon Mint go to their own order, 4B, which the guest pays by card.

4. The rest pays, with a tip

The Mixed Grill and the other Fresh Lemon Mint are left on table 4. The guests add a 7.00 AED tip and pay with notes.

The result

Table 4 is free again. The table spent 149.10 AED with 7.10 AED VAT on two Simplified Tax Invoices (36.75 by card, 112.35 in cash), and the 7.00 AED tip is not a sale: it is kept apart for the staff (Tips Payable). The Fattoush is on the order's record of removals, with who removed it and who approved.
